Funeral services for Qunin Wade Bennett, 83, of Purcell were held Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Purcell First Baptist Church. Interment was at the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mr. Wade Bennett died on July 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 6, 1941 in Maysville, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of eight children born to George and Era (Fowler) Bennett. Qunin graduated from Wayne High School with the class of 1959. He attended Cameron University in Lawton Oklahoma for two years majoring in Electric and Electronics and supported himself by working on a dairy.
On June 15, 1962 he married Phyllis Ann Owen of Purcell, Oklahoma. Qunin entered the Air Force on October 27, 1963 and served six years They made their home in Norman and later in Purcell where they raised their two daughters, Stacey and Jacinda. Qunin worked at OG&E for 33 years until he retired in 1994.
Ounin was well known for his onery personality and humor. He was a fierce family man who loved his time on the farm with his cattle and horses or completing wood working projects in his shop. Later in life you would often find him fellowshipping over coffee in the morning and ice cream in the evening.
He was active in his church and loved the people, all the people. Qunin and Phyllis sponsored multiple mission trips, kids camps and assisted with Bible School. They both loved the LORD and wanted everyone to experience the same love and relationships they had with HIM.
Qunin loved his family and would rather spend time with them than anything else. Holidays were always special to him because it meant everyone would be together and he could host a cookout and enjoy the fellowship. It is only fitting he brought us all together on July 4th with him one last time. He received the greatest Independence Day of them all. To know Qunin was to love him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Venita Hawkins, Loretta Ross and Rita Liberty and four brothers, Herman Bennett, Dean Bennett, Jay Bennett and Glen Ray Bennett.
