Late last week, the Lady ‘Dawgs were in Sulphur for the Murray County Bash. They picked up wins over Ada (5-3), Lone Grove JV (3-2) and Ardmore (12-0), but lost to Davis (6-2) and Sulphur (8-3).

“We hit well in the tournament, but just ran out of gas on the second day,” head coach Monty Ervin said.

That brought their overall record to 6-3.

The team was traveling to Holdenville for a game on Tuesday.

Murray County Bash

In their first game, Lexington beat Ada, 5-3. The Lady Bulldogs collected seven hits, including two each from Lexie Torres and Mackenzie Manuel.

Manuel also had two ribbies.

Hannah Garrett was in the circle and gave up just one hit and fanned two batters.

Next up was a 6-2 loss to Davis. Lexington was outhit 11-5. Torres, Brodie Anderson, Kora Parker, Baylee Rillema and Peyton Harmon each had a hit.

Lexington pushed their two runs across in the top of the first inning on a Parker double.  Davis tied it up in the third after scoring two runs. They added four more in the fourth to pick up the win.

In their third game, Lexington got a lopsided, 12-0, win over Ardmore.

Anderson was the leader at the plate for Lexington. She had two hits, including a three-run double, and four RBIs. Torres and Chloe Becker each had two RBIs.

Garrett was once again in the circle. She fanned six batters.

The Ardmore win was followed by a 3-2 win over the Lone Grove JV. Lexington collected seven hits, including two each from Becker and Cote Garver.

Garrett, Garver and Becker each had an RBI.

The game was knotted at two-all through the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Becker doubled to score the winning run for Lexington.

Garrett was credited with the win. She pitched five innings and struck out five batters.

In their final game of the tournament, Lexington fell to Sulphur, 8-3.

Torres, Manuel, Parker, Rillema and Becker each had a hit in the loss.

“We have a young team, and we made some errors in both of our losses. As we get into September, we’ll have more games under our belt and that experience will help us,” Ervin said.

Lindsay

Last Tuesday, Lexington lost to Lindsay in a district game, 12-1.

Anderson had Lexington’s one hit and Rillema had the one RBI.

Anderson was in the circle and struck out six batters.

“They’re a really good team; definitely a contender. We didn’t hit well, but they did. We didn’t pitch well, and they did.”

Next week Lexington hosts Heritage Hall on Monday and goes to Jones on Tuesday. Both are district games.
