The Wayne Lady Bulldogs kicked off their season at Fletcher on Monday. But, it was a tough opener as the visiting team fell 9-1.

Fletcher jumped out in front, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning.

Wayne tied it up 1-1 in the third when senior Addison Keeler grounded out to score Cylie Jones.

That was all she wrote offensively as Fletcher scored four in the bottom of the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth to run away with the game.

Wayne had three hits in the loss. Jones, Audra Watts and Alyssa Hobson each had one.

Five errors in the field were hard to overcome.

Freshman Maddi Moreno was in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. She had three strikeouts and gave up nine runs, five earned, on seven hits.

Wayne was scheduled to host Ninnekah on Tuesday and play in the Central High tournament late in the week.
