Donna Sue Coker passed peacefully at home, July 23, 2024, in Lexington at the age of 87 years 8 months. Funeral Services were held Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Lexington First Baptist Church. Interment followed at Elmore City Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Condolences may be made, and service livestreamed at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.
Donna was born November 23, 1936, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Eunice Lahoma (Harper) Coffey.
Growing up in the Pauls Valley area, Donna pursued her education and proudly graduated as valedictorian at Paoli High School in 1954.
On May 24, 1954, Donna embarked on a new chapter of her life as she exchanged vows with Gervis R. Coker, Jr. in a ceremony held in Gainsville, Texas. Together, they embarked on life in Central Oklahoma, moving from Seminole to Lexington in 1971, where they established their forever home.
Donna’s days were filled with simple joys; she found enjoyment and solace in the pages of books, embraced the art of crafting and especially enjoyed her days laughing through work with her best friends at the Dairy Boy. However, what brought her the greatest happiness was being surrounded by her family.
Faith held a significant place in Donna’s life as she was a devout and active member of the Baptist community, worshiping and serving many years as a Sunday School teacher at Lexington Baptist Church. Her unwavering devotion and gentle spirit touched the lives of her family and others around her, leaving an indelible mark of kindness and love.
Donna will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lahoma Coffey; her son, Robert Coker; her sister-in-law, Susan Coker; and her brothers-in-law, James Gentry, Jim Wall and Jimmy Coker.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Gervis R. Coker, Jr.; her daughter, Anita Partain and husband, Travis; her son, Gary Coker and wife, Marie; her five grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson and wife, Melissa, Jason Lowman, Jessica Lowman, Paige (Coker) McKee and spouse, Jacob, and Peyton Coker; her eight great-grandchildren, Presley, Tyson, Jase, Ethan, Abby, Gracie, Tate and Ella; her sisters, Judy Gentry and Debbie Wall; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The Coker family would like to extend their heartfelt Thank you to Loving Care Hospice and Home In Stead, especially Misty Lewis, for their many years of amazing compassion and care provided Donna and the entire family.
