Dan Gordon McClure died September 3, 2024, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, at the age of 53 years 10 months 27 days. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Odell Farm’s facility in Asher, Oklahoma. The family asks that if you are attending, please bring a story for the family binder.
Dan McClure, born October 7, 1970, a man with a heart as big as the wide-open spaces he loved, left us far too soon, but not without leaving a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity.
A devoted father to two beautiful daughters, a loving husband to his incredible wife, and a friend to anyone who ever needed one. Dan was the guy who would drop everything to help—whether it was fixing a fence, solving a problem, or just offering a listening ear. He had a knack for turning everyday moments into adventures, especially with his girls by his side.
His daughters were his pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to share stories about them or take them on spontaneous trips that always ended with a good story to tell. Dan had a love for horses and the cowboy lifestyle, and he often joked that his job as a cop was really just to fund his horse and cattle habit.
But his true passion was helping people, and he did so with a humble, can-do spirit that made everyone around him feel cared for. Though he’s gone too soon, Dan’s presence will never fade. The next time you hear thunder, picture him up there, chasing cows across the sky and keeping an eye on all of us, like he always did—ready to step in when we need him most.
Ride on, Dan, your legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will live on in all of us. In true Dan fashion he requested that we have a party in honor of his memory. He wanted people to rejoice in his memories and come together for one last laugh. The family will be hosting two separate parties for all of his friends and family. Come dressed for a cowboy party.
A Second Celebration of Life will be in Pinedale, Wyoming, on October 5, 2024. The family will have further details at a later date.
