The town of Washington has implemented a ban on outdoor watering, effective immediately.
An email was sent out to residents at 12:38 p.m. Thursday, June 27, ordering them to refrain from “using water outdoors for any purpose, including lawns, gardens, and car washing.”
Violators of the ban will face a $200 fine from the town.
Those wishing to turn in violators are asked to contact Susan at susan@washingtontownhall.com.
Anonymous reporters are asked to include the address of the resident in violation.
Washington residents had been under odd-even water rationing orders, but acting mayor Duane Branham said the excessive heat and water shortage make the current order insufficient.
The new ban is effective until further notice.
