The McClain County Sheriff’s Department is investigating scam calls that are occurring in the Purcell area.
According to authorities, the caller identifies himself as a Lt. Davenport of the sheriff’s department stating they have legal matters that require immediate attention.
The individual on the phone says if the person they called did not cooperate he would issue a warrant for their arrest and send the sheriff’s office out to arrest them.
The victim of the call May 22 hung up on the caller and immediately called the Purcell Communication Center who alerted McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter.
The dispatch center said they had a total of five similar calls that day.
Another scam going around is a caller reporting to be from a local pharmacy preying on elderly victims.
The general public should be aware of these scams and notify authorities
