New downtown lights

For holidays and special downtown events

The Purcell Tourism Committee proudly announces the installation of new decorative lighting on the top of the buildings along Main Street.

City officials report this initiative aims to help  keep the downtown area, looking inviting and aesthetically pleasing for residents and visitors alike.

A dedicated team of contractors began removing the old lights that have adorned Main Street for many years on Monday.

“These outdated fixtures are being replaced with a new lighting system  that will continue to enhance the beauty of our beloved downtown,” Tourism Committee member Greg Wheat said.

If all goes according to plan, the new lighting system will be fully operational by the end of the week.

“The upgraded lights on Main Street will help keep a vibrant, welcoming space, perfect for evening drives, strolls and community gatherings,” Wheat continued.

"We were happy to fund this project, and thrilled to see these new lights go up. They will not only look nice, but also help reinforce Purcell’s charm and hospitality as well as help highlight all of our vibrant businesses downtown,” he concluded.

City Manger Sam Demel said the lights are not only for the holidays but for anytime there is a downtown event.
