Life-long Oklahoman Melissa Pruitt assumed the presidency of the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce July 1.

Pruitt and her husband of 17 years, Jason, are business owners in Purcell and have two children, both of whom are Purcell High School graduates.

In business for the past 21 years, the Pruitts own Pruitt Electric, Inc., Pruitt Investments and are co-owners of Rockstar Roofing.

They have lived in Purcell for the past 17 years and have been building houses since 2001. They own two commercial buildings in Purcell, one of which is leased by Norman Regional on North Green Avenue.

“I love being a part of this community and serving on the chamber as well as our local Rotary Club,” Mrs. Pruitt said.

“I’ve always liked volunteering where and when I can,” she continued.

She has recently been appointed as a new member of the Pioneer Library Board of Directors and is a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Norman.

“I prefer to spend the majority of my time with my family and try to get us all together as often as possible,”  Pruitt said. “In my spare time, I love to read and float in my pool and watch whatever I can find on TV that will make me laugh.”

Mrs. Pruitt is also a member of Okeyha Mothers Club.

Other board members are Andrew McClung, past president Greg Wheat, John Sanders, Brett Duke, Ryan Smith, Sherri Sheehy, Makayan Carrizales, Clinton Tharp, James Bolling and Jace Woodrow.

The Executive Director is Elisabeth Baker.

“Being a part of the chamber connects you with a network of like-minded people, fostering both personal and business growth that benefits our entire community,” Wheat said.
