Monday’s regular monthly school board meeting was a housekeeping session for the Purcell Board of Education.

Board members approved

• A $1,000 retention stipend for certified special education teachers
• A $300 back-to-school stipend for certified staff
• A $250 retention stipend for support staff
• The purchase of Ballistic film and installation at two school sites for $45,376.58 to be paid from the school resource grant
• Purchase and installation of vape detectors for $14,958 at the junior high and high school bathrooms to be paid for with ESSER III funds
• Purchase of 60 teacher laptops, 31 classroom Tvs and 30 office tower computers for $103,530 to be paid for with ESSER III funds
• The co-op with Lexington Public Schools for high school wrestling
• Allowing the school calendar to go by hours instead of days
• An agreement with OCCC for concurrent enrollment
• A resolution with Mid-America Technology Center to transcript math, science and technology classes
• A resolution to name the Purcell Public School Foundation as agent to receive donations on behalf of Purcell Public Schools for the Equal Opportunity Education Scholarship tax credit
• The Riley Boatright Plan with Wadley’s Ambulance Service
• The cardiac emergency plan for athletics and school sites
• Meal prices to remain the same as last year
• The Purcell Elementary new teacher mentoring program
• Hire adjunct stem class position at intermediate school and adjunct teacher for first grade
• Approved a $1 dollar an hour raise for non-certified employees and a $2 an hour raise for bus drivers

All five board members were present including Kevin Andrews, Mary Webb, Tracy Folsom, Nicolle Carr and Holly Baker.
