Editor’s note: Answering The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is McClain County District 3 Commissioner Terry Daniel
Q: What is the most important trait for a county commissioner to have?
A: The most important skill for a commissioner is to be a good listener to all. The commissioner must have a working knowledge and understanding of road repair, maintenance and equipment.
Q: What was your professional background before you were elected a county commissioner?
A: I began my career with a paving company in Oklahoma City. I worked for them for 15 years learning how to run equipment and elements of road maintenance and repair. An opportunity became available at McClain County and I have been employed here for 30 years.
Q: In your opinion what is the county’s greatest need?
A: The greatest need for probably every county is financial. Our District 3 is no exception. Big projects cost big money.
Q: Do you have an open door policy for your constituents?
A: One hundred percent! I do my best to return all calls and attend meetings to reach the public so everyone knows what projects are coming up and what we have accomplished.
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: This was a tricky question. I am an open book. LOL Something people may not know ... I was raised in a military family and I have been all over the world. Germany and Alaska are a couple of favorites. And I love to fish any time I get a chance.
