5 questions with Lori Cudd

Editor’s note: Answering  The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Lori Cudd. She and her husband, Roger, have Roger Cudd CPA.

Q. How long have you and Roger had the CPA firm?

A. Roger has had the CPA firm for 31 years and of those years, I have worked for him for 24 years.

Q. What is your favorite thing about your job?

A.  My favorite thing about my job is seeing our clients and helping them with bookkeeping and other financial matters. Also, I like to encourage clients and to let them know that the paper side to a business or personal/Corp taxes can be fun if you have the right attitude. It can be a challenge but who doesn’t like a challenge, right? Never get discouraged because we are here to help!

Q. What is the most challenging part of your job?

A. The most challenging part of my job is just the time restraints we have; I know all occupations have them and I know why they are in place, but sometimes it is a lot. Especially with tax laws changing every year.

I would also say, on a lighter note, that working with your spouse is sometimes trying! All in all, we work well together because we have the same goal.

Q. What’s it like working in the town where you grew up?

A. Working in the town where I grew up is honestly awesome! I get to help people that I have known all of my life…for example, some of our clients are teachers that taught me when I was kid or family friends that I have known for ages and even kids that I used to baby-sit way back when! All of these people have helped me in some way and it is nice to return the favor.

Q. How has Purcell changed since you were young?

A. Purcell has changed for sure! Growing up, I lived on Adams Street and would ride my bike to Love’s to get candy and play in the creek fishing for crawdads behind my house. I remember Hardees a/k/a Carl’s Jr. coming into town when I was in middle school and thought that was the coolest thing EVER!! Cruising Main Street as a teenager was the best! Now dial it to 2024 and yes, Purcell has changed but for the better! Look how beautiful and vibrant our small town is; from the splash pad for kiddos to all the wonderful events coming to Main Street and shops! Purcell is a very quaint, beautiful town filled with amazing people! Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
