5 questions with Cassandra Stroud

Editor’s note: Answering  The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is District Attorney’s office collections clerk Cassandra Stroud.

Q. What brought you to the DA’s office?

A. Honestly I realized that I didn’t see my future working in the child care scene anymore. I love being around kids, just wanted to see what else I could do but would serve a purpose and  I wanted something different. I was told that a position at the DA’s office had opened up and that I should apply. I thought it would be a great opportunity and a fresh start. I can say that I’m so grateful I was given a chance, because I really love it.

Q. What do you enjoy about your work?

A. The people I work with and the work environment. There is so much to learn and every day is something different, and at times can be very rewarding.

Q. What challenges do you face?

A.  Every day walking into the office is a new challenge. With the criminal system, it’s always something new and we just take it one step at a time and face the challenge head on and get the job done.

Q. What is something you do that was unexpected?

Well where my desk sits in our office in the Courthouse I’ve had to redirect news media, the court house had to evacuate the whole building for a bomb threat which was all cleared and we were safe. I have met some pretty interesting people from directing the traffic on the 2nd floor, talking to them at the window or over the phone.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?

A. I love to read and be with my family. Whether it’s at a sports event, a water park, or just our Friday night dinner date/game night.
